Advantages Of Digital Television Over Analog Television

The age of television has certainly changed. From the 1950′s with black and white productions, to today’s 3D and ultra tech programing, things have progressed. Recently, TV switched from the traditional analog signal to digital. While the conversion confused many people, there are many advantages.

One of the main advantages of the new digital formatting is that it allows more channels to be broadcast on a signal, as opposed to analog style. Most people receive digital signals through their cable, or satellite providers. With traditional analog cable there was usually under 100 channels. However, when upgraded to digital, which requires a converter, they were able to obtain between 200-300 channels. Digital has the ability to carry more selection to the consumer, thus giving them way more viewing options.

The picture quality is another area, which people can see a difference. While there might be some slight interruptions and scrambling with digital, for the most part, it has the ability to give you the HDTV signals, which most TVs have. HD quality is top notch and can give one the feeling that they are sitting in a movie theater. Almost all TV’s on the market today, are HDTV compatible and having analog cable, would not allow them to utilize this awesome feature.

The sound quality is another key feature that makes digital a better option. Forget the Stereophonic sound, which came with analog and welcome Dolby Digital. It is the difference between listening to a record on the old style record players, or listening to a CD. The crystal clear quality and sound, makes it an easy choice to see which one is best. While there are many advantages to digital over analog, some people are not sold. However, the wonderful conversion, has allowed many people to have a theater experience, right in their living rooms.
