The Philco TB100-HH9 is another digital TV converter box that is eligible for the government DTV converter box coupon program.
As you’d expect, the TB100-HH9 accepts free, over-the-air digital signals and converts them to 480i, with an adjustable 4:3 (standard) or 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio.The TB100-HH9 has RCA (composite) connections as well as standard coax connections and S video. Unforuntely, there is no Smart Antenna. The Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) displays only one channel at a time, but displays 24 hours of programming. The Philco TB100HH9 has also been ranked as a Consumer Reports best digital TV converter box.
Some user-based reports indicate the TB100-HH9 has:
- No external power supply like the Sansonic FT-300A.
- Clear reception, equal to the Sansonic FT-300RT and the Channel Master CM-7000.
- Excellent audio reproduction; on par with the Winegard RC-DT09.
- An analog pass-through.
- Can display signal strength on screen.
